Don Forbes

Don Forbes and Reckless
Don Forbes and Reckless is a rock and roll band with country/red dirt overtones. Led by singer/songwriter Don Forbes, Reckless plays a mix of original music and covers from Tom Petty, Steve Earle, Jackson Browne, Turnpike Troubadours, and more. It’s a band that gets people out of their seats and on the dance floor!
Forbes was inspired by some bootleg Tony Robbins “personal power” tapes that he could write songs. Once started, he found success immediately! Two of the 12 songs on his first CD were used in documentaries, one in a major motion picture “Arlington Road” and TV’s “Sex and the City”. One of the two songs used in the documentaries, “I Just Got Here First” won an international song contest in the Americana genre, and was pitched by 4 Nashville publishers to country artists. Noted documentary filmmaker Ken Burns said of “We Just Did What We Were Told” his song/video about Vietnam, "Beautiful, haunting, and expresses perfectly the predicament soldiers were in, as well as the overall mood of the country. The images were just right! Best wishes to you and welcome home!" Ken Burns, Jan 2019
Forbes has put together an amazing band featuring Sean Allen, lead guitar (guitarist for Carlene Carter, backed Peter Rowan at the 2023 Hardly Strictly Festival, plus gigs with Commander Cody, Maria Muldaur, and Banana. Gabe Ford was the drummer for Little Feat drummer from 2009-2019. Paul Olguin as a teenager played bass for Mary Wells (“My Guy”), and more recently has been a part of the Shana Morrison band. Keyboardist Henry Salvia is an accomplished songwriter, was a member of Houston Jones from 2005-2017, and performs with wife Kathleen these days as the Flying Salvias. Pamela Joyce is the leader of “Foxes in the Henhouse” and plays mandolin, banjo, and background vocals. This lineup has been together since 2021, and they just keep getting better!
